Computational Biologist, Python/R, Drug Discovery

Hybrid remote – office based in West London 4 days per week

£45-50k negotiable + Bupa + bonus

A stunning opportunity to join a company at the forefront of the AI-driven drug discovery revolution. We’re looking for a talented PhD level Computational Biologist with a wet-lab background, to contribute to a transformational change in the way drug discovery is done with a high growth, fast-paced biotechnology company.

You will join a world class team and play a leading role in the development of a computational platform. This team is responsible for integrating hepatocyte-centric data sources, developing proprietary network building and analysis algorithms and finding and validating drug targets.

The role:

  • Perform computational biology and target identification projects to support drug discovery efforts
  • Help expand the core capabilities of a computational discovery platform
  • Support colleagues in Informatics and biology on infrastructure and/or preclinical projects
  • Follow standards for computational projects, including the use of GitLab, Agile project management, FAIRification of data and the generation of high quality, reusable code
  • Knowledge sharing with regular updates at Sprint meetings

Requirements:

  • Educated to PhD level (or equivalent experience) in computational biology or the biological sciences  
  • Experience designing, implementing and delivering rigorous computational analyses of biological data
  • Experience building libraries using Python and/or R
  • Familiarity with the early drug discovery process and concepts
  • Experience designing and conducting wet-laboratory projects  

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience working in one or more of: network biology, multi-omics data integration, deep learning, knowledge graphs and representational learning techniques or mathematical optimisation
  • Experience working in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
