Scam WhatsApp Messages Claiming To Be From RWA

Richard Wheeler Associates has received reports from people who have received WhatsApp or Telegram messages claiming to be from us.

These are scam messages and they don’t come from Richard Wheeler Associates.

Details from people who have received the messages all report being contacted via WhatsApp or Telegram from an unknown number about a remote flexible job. These messages have nothing to do with RWA - we would never contact you out of the blue like this.

These are examples of messages sent:

“I’m a recruiter from Richard Wheeler Associates LTD UK.

We have a flexible remote job that might interest you. Can I share more details and salary package for your review and see if that suits you?

Got your number from the UK recruitment database.

May I let our human resource manager send them to you so you can take a look and see if there’s a role of your interest?”

Different names have been used in the messages, including Maurice, Miriam, Grace Nicolaci and Brittany Taylor.

This could be an attempt by scammers to obtain people’s details or to call them back on premium rate numbers or click on suspicious links.

If you receive a message like this, from somebody claiming to be from Richard Wheeler Associates, please do not hand over any personal details.

Instead:

  • don’t reply to the messages
  • do not do what the person is asking of you
  • block and report the user on WhatsApp

The scam messages, including the number from which they’re calling, can also be reported to Action Fraud. (Action Fraud is the reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime in England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
